Bad product – no support

Bad performance – worse customer support
Had the MagicJack for several months now. The audio stopped working on most of the calls placed and received. Can’t hear incoming calls and can’t hear outgoing calls. This renders the MJ useless. Spent several hours with customer support. They are unable to resolve and unable to escalate and unable to do anything now. Now when I ‘chat’ with customer service they are unwilling to help. They tell me I am out of options. They will not refund me for the 5 years of service I purchased and they do not participate in number portability so I can’t take my number to another provider. I really am out of options. I bought it now can’t use it several months later because it is broken. This product, service and customer service is the worst. STAY AWAY

Well after 4 months of good performance, the MJ went bad again. Now for incoming calls the audio is static and you cannot hear the person calling you at all. Strangely, the caller can hear you. So, it was back to the Chat Tech Support. It has been over 30 days, 8 chat sessions (several hours of wasted time) and the problem is not resolved. The Tech Support people have started ‘terminating’ the chat sessions with me. HOW RUDE IS THAT!
So here I am again, a phone system that does not work and no support. This company is truly the WORST in product and Support. I will be going back to a REAL phone company. MAGIC JACK SUX!!!!!!!

My MJ is finally working great!!! After months of Chat sessions with MJ support changing my PC settings, they escalated to a real technician that I talked to. They tried replacing the MJ for free, then MJ actually found an internal problem at their facility. It has be working flawlessly for a couple of months now. It was a very frustrating experience having to deal with the Chat support people. They seem to only know how to change things on your PC which is not always the problem. I have a firewall and antivirus with application filtering that had to be changed to open UDP ports 5060 and 5070 which I believe helped improved the call quality, but leaves some vulnerability since the ports are not being filtered. All I can suggest is if you want to keep the MJ and are having problems, be persistent! Each time you Chat with support remind them to look at the history of previous Chats. Good luck.

our magic jack hasn't worked for weeks. You can dial a number and then it shuts off. cannot find a number to call . we tried the tech support and they were no help. they even charged me 18 dollars and no help. Does anyone ahave a way to contact Mj for service

Have also had MJ for some months and it is difficult to find out how to contact them to pose questions about the faults in functioning! Where is the customer service, and why when you click on customer service, the only thing that comes up is the lame advertizing video! When speaking to someone, after 1 minute, it sounds as if the other person is under water, and it is impossible to understand what they are saying!

I am having the same problem. The phone works only when it wants to.I need a phone that I can depend on. I can't depend on magic jack,and there is no customer support.
